There's a new
buzzzz hitting the musical world. It looks like the infamous
Danger Mouse and
Sparklehorse's Mark
Linkous is ganging up to make a new album called Dark Night of the Soul.
Wow right?
To add the cherry to the sundae, director
David Lynch will package a book of photos alongside the project. So far the album is the clearest definition of collaboration. In addition to their songs, well known artists such as James Mercer of the Shins, the Flaming Lips, Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals, Jason
Lytle of Grandaddy, Julian
Casablancas of the Strokes, Frank Black of the Pixes, Iggy Pop, Nina
Perssons of the Cardigans, Suzanne Vega, Vic
Chesnutt, and Scott Spillane of Neutral Milk Hotel, and the Gerbils also appear on the album.
Before you run to the nearest record store and
pre-order the album, there is tragic news. Due to legal issues with their running label
EMI, the
cd will not be released. However, don't weep, there are certain sites such as NPR that's streaming the whole album online.
